Alió is known for nut farming, especially almonds and hazelnuts, which can be bought directly from the agricultural cooperative. The town has a couple of bars and restaurants, a bakery, a fruit and vegetable market on Sundays, fresh fish sold several days a week, a medical center (Cap), a school (infants – primary 6e), bus connection to Barcelona, a yoga center, a playground, a paddle tennis court, swimming pool etc. The area is perfect for hiking and cycling, with many signposted paths and walkways through the countryside, connecting Alió with the neighbouring villages.
